NMHA Meeting – Proposal of new Board Structure, Open Board of Director positions

NMHA Meeting: Proposal of 2024-25 Board Structure and Bylaw Updates

When/Where: April 30, 2024 at 6:30PM – Nepean Sportsplex Hall C and D

Purpose:  This meeting ahead of the AGM will focus on reviewing the status of NMHA board vacancies, proposed board structure, and updates to the Bylaws. Following review, NMHA members in attendance will be given the chance to vote on the proposed structure and Bylaw amendments.

In the event that the proposed new board structure is not approved, we will proceed by voting for members based on the existing board structure and any vacancies that may exist.

Please note: If you are over 18, and a member of your household is registered in an NMHA program, you are an NMHA voting member.

Existing NMHA Board vacancies (current structure)

The NMHA board is undergoing significant organizational changes, with six vacancies for the upcoming 2024-25 season. These positions include:

  • President
  • VP of Operations
  • VP of Competitive
  • VP of Finance
  • Member at Large (two vacancies)

Proposed NMHA Board structure (with organizational chart)

The proposed structure includes  9 voting members + President​, as follows:

  • President​
  • VP of Operations ​
  • VP of Administration NEW
  • VP of Finance​
  • VP of Programs NEW
  • House League Director x2 NEW
  • Competitive Director x2 NEW
  • Policy, Risk and Safety Director

The proposed NMHA board structure has been designed to meet the needs of our membership, prioritizing transparency in decision-making and fostering cohesion between house league and competitive programs. With this new structure, our goal is to foster alignment and cultivate open communication across all levels and functions within the association.

Existing board members with terms will be appointed to a one-year term in the new structure to complete their current tenure.

Bylaw Updates

The Bylaw updates will align with the proposed organizational structure, with a particular focus on Section 6.0: Qualifications of Directors – Officer Positions.

How to apply for an NMHA Board position

Ahead of the meeting, please complete the NMHA Board Member Nomination Form to express your interest in a vacant Board position. This is an essential step in our Board position application process.   The form will close Thursday April 25, 2024.

Annual General Meeting (immediately following the Board structure meeting)

When/Where: April 30, 2024 at 7:00PM – Nepean Sportsplex Hall C and D

Purpose: Immediately following the above-noted members meeting, we will hold our Annual General Meeting, where members will vote on Board appointments and the NMHA 2024-25 budget forecast.

NMHA members in attendance on April 30, 2024, will be entered to win a free minor hockey membership (valid for registration to the 2024-25 regular season).
