The NMHA is pleased to offer the following supports to our house league players in order to help players reach their personal goals to grow in the game of hockey.
Skills Sessions
Our coach mentor, Tony Iob, will be running a small number of skills clinics throughout the season for our U9, U11 and U13 house league players. These sessions are broken down by age group in order to allow players to develop, learn and grow with their peer group. The association’s goal is to provide an affordable and accessible development opportunity for our house league players.
Goalie Development Sessions
The NMHA is pleased to partner with SHIFT Performance and Wellness for the 2022-23 season in order to provide our house league goalies development clinics throughout the season. These clinics will take advantage of SHIFT’s facilities and coaches in order to allow our goalies to develop with their peers in their age groups.
Roster Select Pilot – U15 and U13
Hockey Eastern Ontario (the governing body of hockey associations in our area, such as the NMHA) has now allowed hockey associations in the area to create “roster select” teams. These teams, sometimes also referred to as travel teams in other areas, provide an opportunity for house league players in our higher tiers to be selected to a team of similarly skilled players in order to practice and play at another level in addition to their normal season.
The HEO policy guides how these teams must be formed and operated. The NMHA is piloting a roster select team at each of the U15 and U13 level for the 2022-23 season. The coaches and teams will be selected in accordance with the policy and begin operating later in the season. There will be additional team fees, for those that are selected, to fund these teams.
