The U14 B Black team are playoff champions after a thrilling championship game on Saturday, March 29th where they won 3-2 in a comeback shootout victory against the Osgoode Richmond Romans who had only lost once during the regular season.
After going down 2-0 after two periods, the Raiders scored with just under 6 minutes to go in the 3rd. This brought some energy to the team and the packed Richmond arena. The Raiders tied it up with their goalie pulled with only 11.2 seconds remaining in the 3rd period to send the game to a 10 minute overtime. Overtime solved nothing. The Raiders scored twice on their first two attempts in the three person shootout while their goalie stopped both shots leading to the celebration of sticks and gloves flying all over the ice.
This championship is a testament to the hard work and dedication from the players and staff. The entire U14 B Black team demonstrated exceptional talent and sportsmanship throughout the season. This highlight in their young hockey careers will be a memory that lasts forever.
