House League Tournament hosts will be selected lottery-style to ensure an equal opportunity to all teams and to provide transparency in the selection process. In the past there were various methods to select Host teams. This new procedure is designed to provide clarity for all concerned.
Only one team from each age group will be selected (example/ one Atom, one Bantam) until all 6 age groups are represented. Following this, all entries will be mixed together and the last 2 host teams will be selected. The only exception will be that a selection cannot include two age groups from the same level (example/ two Atom B hosts, or two Midget A hosts). This is to ensure adequate opportunity to fill each tournament to capacity.
The lottery will be conducted by a Board Member in the NMHA hockey office following Thanksgiving. (For 2019, this will be Oct 22 at 7PM). This should provide adequate time or house league teams to canvass their parents and players so as to determine whether there is interest in hosting a tournament. If two teams in the same division wish to share hosting duties for one tournament, then each team is entitled to submit one ballot that identifies both team names on each ballot.
Teams can submit their ballot(s) by sending an email (with telephone number) to the Tournament Director before 5PM on the day of the lottery. The Tournament Director's email address is located on the "Contacts" page on this web site. Attendance at the selection process is optional. Selected host teams will be notified by email or by phone.
